Sleep Apnea/Snoring

Do you or someone you know suffer from sleep apnea or snoring? Although there’s no cure to stop sleep apnea or snoring, there are different treatments and devices that can help you minimize the effects.

Snoring and sleep apnea are similar in the way that the sound that is being produced is due to the airways being blocked. The soft tissue at the back of our throats relaxes when we are sleeping, and it often blocks the airways. When there is a blockage your body will make sure enough air is going to your lungs and will cause the loud noise as the air passes through the blockage. The shift in sleeping positions, nasal or oral devices can help open up the airways to unblock them and let air through.

Sleep apnea, on the other hand, involves the central nervous system, and it happens when your brain is not sending the right signals to the muscles that control breathing. It can become very serious as sleep apnea is considered a disorder, your breathing stops and starts as you sleep and it can be quite dangerous.

You might not be aware of your sleep disorders until someone mentions it to you since they happen during sleeping hour. However, there are different signs you can look out for that will indicate you should go see your doctor. A special night guard designed for sleep apnea will allow your mandible to move forward to open up the air passage and allow air to go through without being blocked.

Our Happy Customers

"I've been going there for most of my adult life... over 20 years I'm sure. Yikes! Dr. Lalezarian is like family. He's kind, affable and above all really good at his job. My husband has a bridge in the front of his mouth and they look so real. I've had other friends with bridges for their front teeth too and they whistle when they talk.. not my husband. The bridge fits perfectly!"

Aileen

"Dr Lalezarian is very good at explaining every aspect of your dental care program, things you would never think of, material used, time frames, and temporary management of your program to keep you able to work and be out in the public.. The staff is excellent and friendly, and easy to work with your schedules. I would recommend to anyone."

Dolores

"Saba has been my hygienist for years and always treats me respectfully. My teeth always feel great after my cleanings with her. I haven't had any bad experiences, so I recommend Dr. Lalezarian's office to anybody in the area."
